Bovine mastitis is a common bacterial infection that causes inflammation of the mammary gland in dairy cattle. Staphylococcus one most predominant and significant pathogens known to cause mastitis. Thus, this study was designed isolate assess prevalence strains cattle with clinical Region IV-A, Philippines. Baird Parker agar (BPA) supplemented 5% egg yolk tellurite emulsion used as selective media differentiate coagulase-positive S. aureus coagulase-negative staphylococcus (CNS). The isolated were phenotypically genetically characterized for further identification. Surprisingly, out 85 isolates, only 56.5% belong genus 43.5% non-staphylococcus despite use staphylococcus-specific medium. overall prevalent species among isolates chromogenes an isolation rate 21.2%. antimicrobial resistance profiles also done. Several staphylococcal exhibited multiple antibiotics. showed hyper-resistance three seven antibiotics – specifically streptomycin, clindamycin, lincomycin. non-staphylococcal Proteus mirabilis, P. penneri, Providencia stuartii almost 100% all antimicrobials tested except amoxicillin. These findings suggest detection diverse mastitis-causing microorganisms important concern sector, different might represent hazards require distinct treatments, particularly on type treat infection. erroneous choice could unnecessarily expose udder microbial flora antimicrobials, thereby inadvertently promoting emergence multidrug-resistant poses serious threat both animal human health.
